On the afternoon of June 13, I encountered an unfortunate incident involving scalding hot water, which led to severe skin burns. Swiftly responding, I treated the affected area with cold water and promptly sought medical help. After undergoing a meticulous two-week treatment at the hospital to prevent infections, I reflected on the fear and vulnerability I faced during that trying time. The compassionate and proficient care extended by the medical staff left a lasting impact on my perception of the healthcare system, especially in contrast to my mother's previous negative experiences. While recuperating, I lightheartedly likened my healing skin to a "salami pizza" or "luncheon meat," using humor as a coping strategy. Fortunately, surgical intervention was unnecessary, and I am thankful to witness the gradual restoration of healthy skin. Although this challenging experience marked a significant setback in my life's journey, I remain optimistic about brighter days ahead. The support of my loved ones played a crucial role in my recovery, reminding me of the importance of empathy and understanding in times of adversity.
