HOME - FUJIFILM X Magnum Photos
Since childhood, I always have a question about where the HOME is and the meaning of it. Once I heard about this exhibition when I was still in Europe, I know I have to check it out.
I signed up for the guided tour by Marine Merindol, Business Director, Asia of Magnum Photos. She explained the background and the setting for each photographer, which gave us more understanding on the hidden messages which the photographers would like to deliver.
In order to celebrate Fujifilm 50th anniversary, 16 Magnum Photographers will explore the theme of "HOME" for the project. Merindol joked this was quite tough projects for the photographers as most of them have always been abroad, doing projects for clients or vendors, shooting people or landscape or stories and now they have to look at themselves. The curator and fujifilm have given them lots of freedom for the project on one condition using the the Fujifilm GFX 50S.
Some photographers captured their families, growing up places, workplace, childhood memories which coherent to the theme. Well, not all photos are happy looking even they are called home.
As for myself, I think as long as there is a sense of belonging and trust, I would already consider HOME. The emotional attachment will be crucial and that's where our heart will follow. It certainly will not be necessary a place, a house or people.
And when you know where your home is, you would feel safe and secure and that's when you will shine.
The exhibition will be ongoing while Hong Kong one ended on 27th August and the next stop will be at KÖLN.
